Please remember, RESA 8 provides the training to start the process to become a
substitute teacher-we do not hire substitutes.

This is a two day workshop and you must attend both days of the session to renew or obtain your first certificate.
In addition, if you are obtaining your first certificate, you must complete 6 hours of classroom observation.
There is a $50.00 registration fee, made payable to RESA 8, to attend this training.
Registration is limited; to reserve a place in this training we must have your $50.00 registration fee and registration form before the class is full.

OPTIONS FOR SUBSTITUTE RENEWALS
Complete 12 clock hours of in-service training, including but not limited to classroom management and teaching strategies. Professional Development Activities are offered at the county/school level during the year. You may attend any of these activities within a three-year period. Please contact your county office for information on activities.
The following is a list of requirements that will be recorded and maintained at the "home" county in which you choose to substitute. This information is being provided in order for you to begin to work toward meeting some of the requirements such as requesting college transcripts. If you wish to substitute in more than one county, you will need to contact each individual county office. The items listed below will be submitted to the county(ies) when you go to orientation at the county level, not at the substitute teacher training.
Application for substitute permit including a $25.00 licensure fee.
Copy of Driver's License.
Copy of Social Security Card.
Official College Transcript(s) from each college you attended (must have 2.0 GPA, which includes all college hours taken).
TB Test from the local health department. (Every two years)
Fingerprinting - $45.35 background check
Substitute Teacher Application from the County Office.
Two hours of observation at K-4, 5-8 and 9-12 unless otherwise specified by the county.
Completed all requirements of the Regional Training Class.
Orientation training at the county level.
You must have a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of a 2.0 GPA to be eligible. There is a $50.00 registration fee, made payable to RESA 8, to attend Substitute Teacher Training. NO REFUNDS!
